In the vibrant township of Khayelitsha, Cape Town, a new legend emerged on July 6, 2003. Siyanda “Da Bull” Ngqayimbana, who grew up in Makhaza under the care of his grandmother, was surrounded by the lively energy of his cousins. From a young age, Siyanda was drawn to the rhythm and poetry of rap music, a passion sparked in the third grade by his uncle, a dedicated rap enthusiast. His uncle’s frequent immersion in rap videos inspired Siyanda, who eagerly listened and learned.Siyanda’s home became a hub of musical influence, with the beats of 2Pac, Lil Wayne, and 50 Cent resonating through the walls. His uncle’s friends, a group of former gangsters, would gather in a nearby house, smoking tik and ganja, and enjoying hip hop. They affectionately nicknamed Siyanda “Thug,” acknowledging his deep admiration for the genre. Despite his mother’s disapproval, Siyanda’s love for rap only intensified.Fast forward to July 6, 2024, Siyanda, now known as Da Blaq Bull, marked his 21st birthday with the release of his latest track, “Bombay,” featuring Poland’s rising star, GieWu Mentis Killuminati.
