**Johannesburg’s Rising Star: Siboniso Nkosi’s Journey from Tragedy to Maskandi Music**In the heart of Johannesburg, a story of resilience and musical passion unfolds with the life of Siboniso Nkosi. Born on August 1, 1998, at Bara Hospital, Siboniso’s tale begins in the vibrant streets of Jozi. Raised by his late parents, Sikhumbuzo Nkosi and Zandile Malinga, he was enveloped in the nurturing warmth that only a loving family can provide. As the eldest sibling, with sister Nokulunga and brother Siyanda by his side, Siboniso’s early years were rooted in familial bonds. His educational journey commenced at John Michael Primary School, where he completed grade 7. In 2011, he briefly attended Matiwane Combined School in Orange Farm before returning to Johannesburg to continue his studies at Denver Secondary School. Despite academic challenges, Siboniso’s determination saw him through all eight grades.Tragedy struck in 2014 with the simultaneous loss of both parents, a heartbreak that led Siboniso and his siblings to seek solace with their uncle, Themba Nkosi. The grief was palpable, and school became an insurmountable challenge, causing Siboniso to take a two-month hiatus. Yet, he emerged with renewed strength, completing his schooling in 2018.It was then that Siboniso discovered his innate talent for Maskandi music, a genre deeply rooted in the Zulu culture. His collaboration with a gifted blind musician, known as “Khazozo,” who could weave magic with a guitar, led to the creation of soul-stirring melodies. Inspired by legends like Mgqumeni and Mtshengiseni, Siboniso began crafting his own music. In 2021, Siboniso’s demos captivated listeners, though many were incredulous that such talent could emerge without financial backing. Facing numerous obstacles, he momentarily stepped away from music, yet his calling was undeniable.A move to Benoni, Kingsway in 2022 opened new doors, surrounded by fellow Maskandi artists. Siboniso’s search for a recording studio culminated at Daveyton’s Beat by Beat Studio, where he recorded his debut extended playlist featuring four tracks, set to be released soon.Siboniso Nkosi invites all to support his musical journey.
